Galaxy S2 Skyrocket SGH-i727 launched in 2011 had features like dual core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 8 mp camera, beautiful touchwiz UI and much more. It was launched with Android 2.3 Gingerbread version. With such good specs and features it could easily handle the newly launched android versions. For that you need to enter the un-official world i.e. you need to root and install custom recovery on it. Once rooted, you can install all those unofficial custom ROMs, replace or move the in-built system applications and settings, can run any app which requires a proper administrative permission, can also access the entire hardware itself. So lets move to the actual guide on how to Root and install CWM/TWRP custom recovery on AT&T Galaxy S2 Skyrocket SGH-i727.

Try this at your own risk. Neither we nor the developers will be responsible if you damage the device by following this article. The step by step given below for rooting and installing CWM/TWRP custom recovery is only compatible for Samsung Galaxy S2 Skyrocket bearing the model number SGH-i727. Applying this on any other device or other variant may cause highly damage to your device. So ensure that the device you are using is of the same model number as shown above. You can verify it from Menu->Settings->About Phone.

Pre-Requisites:
  • Rooting will void your device warranty. But don’t worry it can be easily regained back by un-rooting the device.
  • In the last step of this procedure you need to wipe the entire phone memory which might clear all your phone data including Contacts, SMS/MMS, call logs, notes, APN settings etc. So a complete Backup of all this is mandatory before proceeding further. You can do that by simply connecting your device to PC and transferring every important data on it.
  • Ensure that you have a good battery backup. Lack of battery power may increase the risk of interruption during the flashing process. So I suggest to charge the device battery at least upto 70%.
  • It is highly recommended to install Mobile specific drivers on your Computer so as to recognize the device when connected to it. You can install them by installing Kies or  manually install them from the link given below:
  1. Download latest Samsung USB Drivers.
  • Enable the USB Debugging mode on your device by following the path Menu->Settings->Applications->Development->USB Debugging.
