It was released in December 2011 with quite similar specs, look and features as compared to Galaxy Y Pro device. The phone came with built in Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. Some of its more specs and features include 2.6 inch touchscreen display with a 320 x 240 pixels of resolution, powered by 832 MHz processor and 384 MB of RAM. If you have no idea about this stuff and are doing for the first time then we request to stop right at this point. Since a slight mistake can brick your smartphone, please follow this guide completely at your own risk. Although the chances of any damage are pretty low. Also do not implement anything by your own. This Official Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread XXLG1 firmware update must be installed only on Samsung Galaxy Y Pro Duos with the model number GT-B5512. Don’t even think of flashing this firmware update on any other device or variant as it may result into unwanted outcomes or bricked device. So confirm your device model number from Homescreen–> Menu–>Settings –> About Phone before moving ahead.
- Your Galaxy Y Pro Duos must be charged at least up to 60% as it will minimize the chances of interruption during the firmware flashing process.

Procedure to install Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread XXLG1 firmware on Galaxy Y Pro Duos GT-B5512
Step 1: Download and extract both the above files to a convenient location on your computer. After extracting the firmware package (.zip file), you’ll see these two files in it:
The SS_DL.dll file is of no use so ignore it.
Step 2: Now power off your Galaxy Y Pro Duos. Then you need to boot your phone into downloading mode.
Step 3: After your phone is completely switched off, you need to boot it into downloading mode. For doing so, you need to press and hold the ‘Home button + Power button + Volume down key’ simultaneously until you see a warning message. Leave all the keys as soon as the warning window appears.
Step 4: Keeping the phone as it is, connect it to your computer using the micro USB cable. Now just press Volume up button to continue. This will directly land your Galaxy Y Pro Duos into downloading mode. Refer the screenshot.
Step 5: On your computer, launch the downloaded ‘Odin Multi Downloader3-v3.12.7′ software which you’ve just received after extraction. As soon as you open it, the ID:COM section located at the top left corner will turn light blue. Also an Added message will appear in the message box window. This will confirm that your Galaxy Y Pro Duos has been successfully connected to your computer.
Note: If such thing doesn’t happen then it’s more likely to be problem with the mobile specific drivers. So just confirm whether you’ve properly installed the mobile specific drivers on your computer or not. You can install them via Samsung Kies or manually install them from the links given in the Pre-Requisites section. If the problem still persists try changing USB cable or the USB port.
Step 6: Next click on the Options tab on the Odin window and tick the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time options present there. Rest leave all the other options as they are.
Note: Do not tick the Re-partition option as it increases the risk of bricking your device.
Step 7: Now, click on the AP button on the Odin window and browse to the firmware package file which you’ve downloaded earlier (B5512XWLG1_B5512ODDLG1_B5512DDLG1_HOME.tar.md5) and select it.
Step 8: In order to initiate the flashing process, click on the Start button located on the Odin window.
Note: The phone will automatically boot itself while the process goes on. Do not interrupt the flashing process by disconnecting the micro USB cable.
Step 9: After few minutes the flashing process will complete. The ID:COM section on the Odin window will turn green with the message ‘Pass’ on it. Also your Galaxy Y Pro Duos will automatically restart itself. This will confirm that the Official Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread XXLG1 firmware has been successfully installed on your Samsung Galaxy Y Pro Duos GT-B5512. Now you may safely disconnect your phone from PC by removing the micro USB cable.
Note: If the process fails or if Odin gets stuck or in case your device gets into boot loop, then close the Odin window, remove battery from your Galaxy Y Pro Duos and re-insert it. Again go into downloading mode and follow the same procedure as given above.
