Pre-Requisites

  • Ensure to charge your mobile at least 50%.
  • Install the latest Samsung USB drivers on your PC. This is essential to detect your phone when connected to a PC.
  1. Download Samsung USB drivers.
  • Your Galaxy Note must be rooted. Also, a custom recovery like TWRP or CWM must be installed.

  • Backup EFS folder present in your phone’s system directory. This sensitive folder contains IMEI, wireless devices MAC addresses and product code etc.

Steps to Install Android 8.1 Oreo on Galaxy Note GT-N7000:

Step 1: Download Lineage OS 15.1 ROM file on your device.

Step 2: Also download the Android Oreo GApps package file.

Note: Do not extract the downloaded zip files.

Step 3: Power off your mobile and boot it into recovery mode.

For doing so, press and hold the Home button + Power key + Volume up simultaneously until the recovery mode appears.

As soon as you enter recovery mode, the first thing you need to do is make a Nandroid backup.

Step 4: After taking backup, Select the Wipe option from the main menu of TWRP recovery.

Step 5: Just swipe right to start the factory reset process.

Note: This will clear the data present on your mobile. So make sure that you have backed up everything before implementing this step.

Step 6: Again go to the main menu and select the Wipe option.

Step 7: Then click on the Advanced Wipe option.

Step 8: On the next screen, select Dalvik cache, system, data, and cache partitions.

Then swipe right to start the wiping process.

Step 9: After the wiping process completes, let’s install the Android 8.1.0 Oreo-based LineageOS 15.1 ROM. For the same, select the Install option from the main menu.

Step 10: Then navigate to the LineageOS 15.1 ROM which you’ve downloaded earlier and select it. On the next screen, swipe right to start the actual Android 8.1 Oreo flashing process.

Step 11: The installation process will hardly finish in few minutes. As soon as it completes, you’ll see a successful message as shown below.

Step 12: Similarly install the Google Apps package (containing Play Store, Gmail, Gtalk, etc.) in the same way as you’ve flashed Android 8.1 Oreo ROM.

Step 13: Everything completes here. Just restart your mobile by selecting the Reboot » System option.

  1. I bought galaxy note gt n7000 on ebay June 2020. I didn’t check year of release, later discovered it was 2012 release . If I allow you to access my computer remotely and I connect my galaxy note, can you help me with the installation please?
