Update Galaxy S2 Plus GT-I9105 to Android 4.2.2 XXUBMH4 Jelly Bean firmware. In February 2013, Samsung released the Galaxy S2 Plus GT-I9105 after the tremendous success of its predecessor Samsung Galaxy S2. If compared by looks and hardware-wise, this smartphone was quite similar to its older variant with some decent mid-range specs and features.
Powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor it was launched with a built-in Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. It had 4.3 inches Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen with 480 x 800 pixels of resolution. It also included 8 GB of internal memory storage with 1 GB of RAM. Camera specs included 8 megapixels of primary camera with autofocus and 2 megapixels of front camera for selfies. To always remain charged up it had a 1650 mAh of removable Li-Ion battery with up to 9 hours of talk time.
Even though it had such amazing specs and features, still there were a few minor bugs and glitches which affected this smartphone to a great extent. To overcome this issue, Samsung released an upgraded version of Android 4.2.2 XXUBMH4 Jelly Bean firmware in September 2013. This update not only enhanced the overall performance but also gave complete stability. Samsung released this update through Samsung Kies and OTA (Over The Air) only in limited regions. Procedure to install Android 4.2.2 XXUBMH4 Jelly Bean firmware on Galaxy S2 Plus I9105
Step 1: After downloading both the above files, extract them to a convenient location on your computer. After extracting the firmware package (.zip file), you’ll see these two files in it:
Step 2: Firstly you need to power off your Galaxy S2 Plus completely until it vibrates.
Step 3: Then you need to boot your device into downloading mode. For booting into download mode, keep pressing and holding the ‘Home button + Power button + Volume down key’ simultaneously until you see a warning message. As you see the warning message leaves all the keys.
Step 4: Now keep your phone as it is and connect it to your computer using a micro USB cable. Now just press the Volume up button on your phone to continue. This will directly land your Galaxy S2 Plus into downloading mode. Refer to the screenshot below.
Step 5: From the downloaded folder on your computer, launch the downloaded ‘Odin Multi Downloader3-v3.12.7′ software which you’ve just received after extraction. As soon as you launch it, the ID: COM section located at the top left corner will turn light blue. Along with that, you’ll also see an Added message in the message box window. This will confirm that your Galaxy S2 Plus has been successfully connected to your computer.
Note: If such a thing doesn’t happen then it’s more likely to be a problem with the mobile-specific drivers. So just confirm whether you’ve properly installed the mobile-specific drivers on your PC or not. You can install them via Samsung Kies or manually install them from the links given in the Pre-Requisites section. If the problem persists try changing the USB cable or the USB port.
Step 6: After that, click on the Options tab located on the Odin window and tick the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time options. Tick only these two options and keep all the other options as they are.
Note: Do not tick the Re-partition option as it may increase the risk of bricking your device.
Step 7: Lastly, click on the AP button located on the Odin window and browse to the firmware package file which you’ve downloaded (I9105XXUBMH4_I9105ODDBMH3_I9105DDUBMH3_HOME.tar.md5) and select it.
Step 8: Then you need to initiate the firmware flashing process. For doing so, just hit the Start button present on the Odin window.
Note: While the process goes on, your Galaxy S2 Plus will boot itself automatically. Do not interrupt the firmware flashing process by disconnecting the micro USB cable from the PC.
Step 9: Be patient and wait until the flashing process completes successfully. When the flashing process completes, the ID: COM section on the Odin window will turn green with the message ‘Pass’ on it. Also, your Galaxy S2 Plus will restart itself automatically. This will confirm that the official Android 4.2.2 XXUBMH4 Jelly Bean firmware has been successfully flashed on your Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus. Now you can remove the micro USB cable to safely disconnect your phone from PC.
Note: If this process fails or if Odin gets stuck or in case your phone gets stuck into the boot loop, then close the Odin window, again go into downloading mode and implement the same procedure as given above.
