Update Galaxy Mini/Pop S5570 to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean via Cyanogenmod 10.2 ROM. For an old device like Samsung Galaxy Mini/Pop bearing model number GT-S5570, the Samsung Company stopped providing official updates based on any later version of the Android. It may be due to the limited hardware and RAM that this device has. That’s why it will not be able to hold the overwhelming features of the later launched Android versions. I know this will disappoint Mini/Pop users, but there is no other option guys. Either you need to change you device or you may go for ROMs developed by the third party android developers.
Yes, of course this will void your device guarantee & even increase the risk of bricking your device permanently. But if attempted properly, you can experience all those new features on your handset. Also if you are totally bored by using the same looks of your mobiles user interface, fade up with the slow speed that it has. Then i recommend you strongly to install those ROM for better user friendly experience.

If you are new to this stuff and have no knowledge regarding the same that it’s better to stop here. Advanced android users who have gone through such thing before may freely proceed further. Although the chances are few but still if in case your Galaxy Mini/Pop gets damaged or bricked by following this guide then neither we nor the developers will be held responsible for that. So I highly recommend you to follow all the given procedure step by step properly and without attempting anything by your own.

Installing this update on any other device or variant may result into unwanted outcomes or bricked device. You can verify your device model number with the number given above from Homescreen–> Menu–>Settings –> About Phone.
- Make sure that you have charged your Galaxy Mini/Pop before performing this process. Lack of battery life always increases the chances of interruption during the flashing process thus leading into further problems. Thus I highly recommend to charge the battery of your mobile at least up to 80%.
- While flashing any ROM the first thing you should do is Backup. In the last step of this flashing process you need to clear all the data and cache from your phone internal memory. Hence I highly recommend you to backup all your important data and settings including contacts, messages and call logs etc. to external memory card or on your PC for safety.
- Make sure that Samsung device drivers are installed on your PC so as to recognize your device when connected to PC. You can install them by installing Kies or manually install them from the link given below:
- EFS folder, a very sensitive folder present in your system directory must be backed up. This is very highly recommended as this folder contains all your phones specific information such as the IMEI, wireless devices MAC addresses, product code, and much more. There is always a risk that sometimes flashing ROM may corrupt the content within this EFS folder. If so happened, your device will be completely useless & will no longer be recognized by your carrier. Refer our article to backup and restore EFS/IMEI data:
- Make sure that your Galaxy Mini/Pop is rooted. Also a Custom recovery like CWM must be installed on your phone. You may refer our article for rooting & CWM recovery process on Galaxy Mini/Pop.
Procedure to update Samsung Galaxy Mini/Pop GT-S5570 to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean:
Step 1: Connect your phone to PC using the USB cable, enable USB debugging mode and transfer the downloaded ROM package on your external SD card. Make sure that you do not extract it. Also remember not to place it in deep directories.
Step 2: Disconnect your phone from PC & switch it off.
Step 3: Enter into recovery mode now. For that press & hold ‘Home Button (middle button) + Power Button’ simultaneously until the recovery mode appears.
Note: Touch won’t work here in CWM recovery. So all you need to do is use Volume Up and Down keys for navigation and Home button for selection.
Step 4: After landing in recovery mode, first thing you need to do is a nandroid backup. It is the backup of your entire operating system & is much essential in case if this installation fails or some problem occurs, then you can easily restore the saved previous ROM.
Refer our detailed article for taking Nandroid backup:
Step 5: For doing same, navigate to the ‘backup & restore’ option on the recovery mode itself and on the next screen select ‘backup’ option. This will make a complete nandroid backup of your current ROM. Refer the screenshot given below.
Let’s move to the actual installation process now.
Step 6: After taking nandroid backup, you’ll again land on main menu of recovery mode. Navigate to the ‘install zip from SD card ‘ option located on the recovery mode itself & select it. Then on the next screen select ‘choose zip from SD card’ option. You will see all your important data present on your external SD card. Navigate to the CM 10.2 ROM package which you’ve copied earlier & select it. Confirm the installation by pressing ‘Yes’ option on the next page. This will start the actual Android 4.3 Jelly Bean flashing process. You need to hardly wait for few minutes.
Step 7: After successful flashing process, Select ‘wipe data/factory reset’ option followed by ‘wipe cache partition’ option on the recovery mode to clear all your data & caches from the phones memory respectively.
Step 8: Now lets flash the Google Apps (containing Google Play Store, Gmail, Maps etc) which you have copied earlier. The procedure is same like you flashed the Cyanogenmod ROM. After successful GApps package installation, remember not to wipe data.
Step 9: Restart your device by selecting ‘reboot system now’ option from the recovery mode. Note that the first boot will take more time to start than usual.
Note: If you want to restore back your previous Rom, then you can do that by going back to the recovery mode by pressing & holding Home Button (middle button) + Power Button simultaneously and select ‘Backup and Restore’ option and then on next page select ‘Restore’ option.
