  • Charge your mobile at least up to 60% to avoid any interruption.
  • Backup all your phone data including contacts, apps, messages, call logs, memos etc. This is necessary as everything gets wiped out in this flashing process.
  • Also backup EFS folder present in your system directory. This sensitive folder contains all your phones specific information such as the IMEI, wireless devices MAC addresses, product code etc. If by mistake it gets wiped, then your phone will no longer be recognized by carrier.   • Install latest Samsung USB drivers on your PC.

  • Ensure that your Samsung Galaxy Core 2 is Rooted.
  • Also a custom recovery like Clockworkmod or TWRP must be installed for flashing this ROM.

How to install Android 8.0 Oreo on Samsung Galaxy Core 2:


Download GApps for Android 8.0 Oreo.

Download Android 8.0 Oreo ROM.


Step 1: Download both the package files (.zip) on your phone.

Note: Do not extract these zip files.

Step 2: Power off your Galaxy Core 2.

Step 3: Boot your device into custom recovery mode. For that, press & hold Volume up + Home button (middle button) + Power button simultaneously till your phone enters custom recovery mode.

Note: If you are facing issues to boot into recovery mode, use Quick Reboot app from Google play Store.

As soon as you enter CWM recovery, take a complete backup of your current firmware. This backup is called as Nandroid backup and is the backup of your phones entire operating system. This always helps during failure of flashing process.

Step 4: After taking backup, navigate to the ‘wipe data/factory reset’ option using volume keys. Then select it using Home button. On the next screen press Yes option to initiate the wiping process. Similarly do for ‘wipe cache partition’.

Note: This step will wipe entire data from your phones internal memory. So ensure that a complete backup is taken before implementing this step.

Step 5: From the main menu of recovery, select Advanced option. On the next screen select Reboot Recovery option.

This will restart your phone into CWM recovery.

Step 6: Let’s install the Android Oreo ROM now. For doing so, select ‘install zip from SD card’ option. Then on the next screen select ‘choose zip from SD card’ option. This will show you the files and folders located on your device. So just select the downloaded Android Oreo ROM zip file.On the next page select ‘Yes’ option to begin the flashing process.

The installation will hardly take few minutes to complete.

Step 7: Similarly install Google Apps file (containing Play Store, Google Maps, Gmail etc.) in the same way as you installed the ROM.

Step 8: That’s it. Just restart your mobile by selecting ‘reboot system now’ option. Remember that the first boot will take more time to start than usual. But it will be normal after a couple of boots.

Note: If your mobile get stuck into bootloop, again go into recovery mode, then wipe data and cache partitions. If the problem still persist, install this official Samsung firmware:

  1. Update Galaxy Core 2 SM-G355H to official Android stock firmware.
