This Android 8.0.0 XXU4CRE8 Oreo firmware is compatible only on Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) with model number SM-A520F. Flashing this update on any other device or variant may result into unwanted outcomes or bricked phone. So confirm your device before moving further.
- Lack of battery power might interrupt the flashing process. So make sure to charge your device at least up to 60%.
- Backup of your phone data is highly recommended as everything gets wiped out in the last step of this process. So backup your contacts, apps, messages, call logs, notes etc. Use any app from Google Play Store for doing so.
- Install latest Samsung USB drivers on your computer so as to detect your phone when connected with USB cable.
- (Optional) To avoid the interruption during the flashing process, temporary disable all the security tools as well as antivirus that are installed on your computer.
Procedure to install Android 8.0.0 XXU4CRE8 Oreo firmware on Galaxy A5 2017 SM-A520F
Step 1: Download and extract both the above files to a convenient location on your computer. After extracting the firmware package (.zip file), you’ll see these files in it:
Step 2: Power off your Galaxy A5 2017 completely until it vibrates.
Step 3: Now boot your phone into downloading mode. Refer:
Step 4: Keeping the phone in download mode, connect it to your computer using standard USB cable.
Step 5: Go to the downloaded folder on your computer and launch the downloaded ‘Odin Multi Downloader3-v3.13.1′ software which you’ve just received after extraction.
As you launch it, the ID:COM section located at the top left corner will turn light blue. Also an Added message will appear in the message box window. This will confirm that your Galaxy A5 2017 has been successfully connected to your computer.
Note: If such thing doesn’t happen then it’s more likely to be problem with the mobile USB drivers. So just confirm whether you’ve properly installed the mobile USB drivers on your computer or not. You can install them via Samsung Kies or manually install them from the links given in the Pre-Requisites section. If the problem still persists try changing USB cable or the USB port.
Step 6: Click on the Options tab and tick the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time options. Keep all the other options as they are.
Note: Do not tick the Re-partition option as it might brick your phone. Don’t use the PIT tab either.
Step 7: Then, click on the BL button present on the Odin window and select the BL_A520FXXU4CRE8_CL13473526_QB18083175_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 from the firmware package file.
Step 8: Then click on the CP button and select the CP_A520FXXU4CRD7_CL796579_QB9560389_SIGNED.tar.md5 file.
Step 9: Similarly click on the CSC button and select the HOME_CSC_ODD_A520FODD4CRD9_CL13483985_QB17936809_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 file.
Note: Normal CSC contains an instruction that allows Odin to wipe out complete data while HOME_CSC contains instruction to only allow wipe of cache. But when a downgrade is done (eg. from Oreo back to Nougat) a factory reset is must. So use normal CSC at that time.
Step 10: And finally click on the AP button and select the AP_A520FXXU4CRE8_CL13473526_QB18083175_REV00_user_low_ship_meta.tar.md5 from the firmware package file.
Note: The AP file will take little time to load so be patient and wait.
Step 11: After implementing everything as given above, simply initiate the firmware flashing process by clicking on the Start button.
Note: Meanwhile your phone will boot itself automatically. Do not disconnect your phone from computer as it will interrupt the flashing process.
Step 12: The process will hardly take few minutes to complete. As soon as it finishes, the ID:COM section will turn green with the message ‘Pass’ on it. Also your phone will automatically restart. This will confirm that the official Android 8.0.0 XXU4CRE8 Oreo firmware has been successfully flashed on your Samsung Galaxy A5 2017 SM-A520F smartphone. Now you may safely disconnect your phone by removing the USB cable.
Note: If the flashing process fails or if Odin gets stuck or in case your phone gets stuck into boot loop, then close the Odin window, again go into downloading mode and implement the complete procedure as given above.
