Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus SM-G955U finally gets the much awaited Android 8.0.0 Oreo update. This latest build comes with the product code TMB from USA (T-Mobile) and firmware version G955USQS3CRE2. Since the update is being rolled out over-the-air (OTA), it may take a while for the Galaxy S8+ Oreo update to go live for all users in the Unites States. After a lot of controversy which happened lately related to the halting of Oreo updates, Samsung has finally started to roll out updates for many high end smartphones. It goes without saying that Oreo will soon be making its way to all the variants of Galaxy S8+ across the globe in the coming days.
Released on 24th May 2018, this Android 8.0.0 Oreo G955USQS3CRE2 firmware comes with various tweaks and revamped features. So flashing this update will not only give a new feel to your device but also improve its overall performance and battery life. If you have not received this update through OTA, then just go ahead and manually flash it through the step by step process given below.

Perform all the steps mentioned below at your own risk. If your phone gets bricked after following this guide, then we at DroidThunder.com will not be held responsible for that. Although the chances are least still it is recommended to go through the tutorial carefully.
This Android 8.0.0 Oreo SQS3CRE2 firmware must be installed only on Samsung Galaxy S8+ having model number SM-G955U. Installing this firmware update on any other device or variant might brick your phone. So verify your device model before going ahead.
- To avoid any interruption, charge your phone at least up to 60%.
- Backup your contacts, apps, messages, call logs, notes etc. using any app from Google Play Store. This is strongly recommended as everything gets wiped in the last step of this flashing process.
- Install latest Samsung USB drivers on PC so as to detect your phone when connected with USB cable. You can install them from Samsung Kies CD which you’ve got at the time of purchase or just manually install from link given below.
- (Optional) Temporary disable all the security tools as well as antivirus that are installed on your PC.
Procedure to install Android 8.0.0 Oreo SQS3CRE2 firmware on Galaxy S8 Plus SM-G955U
Step 1: Download and Extract both the files on your PC. After extracting the firmware package (.zip file), you’ll see these files in it:
Step 2: Now power off your Galaxy S8 Plus SM-G955U.
Step 3: Then boot it into downloading mode. Refer:
Step 4: Keeping the phone in download mode, connect it to PC using USB cable.
Step 5: On your PC, go to the downloaded folder and launch the downloaded ‘Odin Multi Downloader3-v3.13.1′ tool.
As soon as you launch it, the ID: COM section located at the top left corner will turn light blue. Also an Added message will appear in the message box window. This will confirm that your Galaxy S8 Plus SM-G955U has been successfully connected to your PC.
Note: If such thing doesn’t happen then it’s more likely to be problem with the Samsung USB drivers. So manually re-install the USB drivers from the links given in the Pre-Requisites section. If the problem still persists try changing USB cable or the USB port.
Step 6: Next click on the Options tab and tick the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time options. Do not tick the Re-partition option as it can brick your phone. Don’t use the PIT tab either.
Step 7: Click on the BL button and select the BL_G955USQS3CRE2_CL13001792_QB18008668_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 from the firmware package file.
Step 8: Similarly click on the CP button and select the CP_G955USQS3CRE2_CP9619736_CL13001792_QB18008668_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 file.
Step 9: Then click on the CSC button and select the HOME_CSC_OYN_G955UOYN3CRE2_CL13001792_QB18008668_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 file.
Note: Normal CSC contains an instruction that allows Odin to wipe out complete data while HOME_CSC contains instruction to only allow wipe of cache. But when a downgrade is done (example: from Oreo back to Nougat) a factory reset is must. So use normal CSC at that time.
Step 10: Finally click on the AP button and select the AP_G955USQS3CRE2_CL13001792_QB18008668_REV01_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT_meta.tar.md5 from the firmware package file.
Note: The AP file will take little time to load. So wait and be patient.
Step 11: After implementing everything as mentioned above, let’s begin the flashing process to actually install the Android Oreo firmware. So press the Start button present on the Odin window.
Note: Your phone will automatically boot itself. To avoid any interruption during the flashing process, do not disconnect your phone from PC.
Step 12: Be patient until the flashing process finishes. When it completes successfully, the ID: COM section will turn green with a message ‘Pass’ on it. This will confirm that your Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus SM-G955U smartphone has been successfully upgraded to official Android 8.0.0 Oreo SQS3CRE2 firmware. Now you may disconnect your phone from PC by safely removing the USB cable.
Note: If this firmware flashing process fails or if Odin gets stuck or in case your phone gets stuck into boot loop, then close the Odin window, again go into download mode and implement the complete procedure as given above.
