Step 1: Download and Extract both the files on your computer. After extracting the firmware package (.zip file), you’ll see these files in it:
Step 2: Now power off your Galaxy S8.
Step 3: Then boot it into downloading mode. Refer:
Step 4: Keeping the phone in download mode, connect it to PC using USB cable.
Step 5: On your PC, go to the downloaded folder and launch the downloaded ‘Odin Multi Downloader3-v3.13.1′ software.
As soon as you launch it, the ID: COM section located at the top left corner will turn light blue. Also an Added message will appear in the message box window. This will confirm that your Galaxy S8 has been successfully connected to your PC.
Note: If such thing doesn’t happen then it’s more likely to be problem with the Samsung USB drivers. So manually install the USB drivers from the links given in the Pre-Requisites section. If the problem still persists try changing USB cable or the USB port.
Step 6: Next click on the Options tab and tick the Auto Reboot and F.Reset Time options.
Note: Do not tick the Re-partition option as it can brick your phone. Don’t use the PIT tab either.
Step 7: Now click on the BL button and select the BL_G950FXXU2CRED_CL13569719_QB18179712_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 from the firmware package file.
Step 8: Similarly click on the CP button and select the CP_G950FXXU2CRE3_CP9647904_CL13569719_QB18058941_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 file.
Step 9: Then click on the CSC button and select the HOME_CSC_OXM_G950FOXM2CREB_CL13569719_QB18143318_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 file.
Note: Normal CSC contains an instruction that allows Odin to wipe out complete data while HOME_CSC contains instruction to only allow wipe of cache. But when a downgrade is done (example: from Oreo back to Nougat) a factory reset is must. So use normal CSC at that time.
Step 10: Finally click on the AP button and select the AP_G950FXXU2CRED_CL13569719_QB18179712_REV00_user_low_ship_meta.tar.md5 from the firmware package file.
Note: The AP file will take little time to load. So wait and be patient.
Step 11: That’s all! Just initiate the flashing process to actually install the Android Oreo firmware. So hit the Start button present on the Odin window.
Note: Meanwhile your phone will automatically boot itself. To avoid any interruption during the flashing process, do not disconnect your phone from computer.
Step 12: The process will hardly take few minutes to finish. When it completes successfully, the ID: COM section will turn green with message ‘Pass’ on it. This will confirm that the official Android 8.0.0 Oreo XXU2CRED firmware has been successfully installed on your Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone. Now you can safely disconnect your phone from computer by removing the USB cable.
Note: If this firmware flashing process fails or if Odin gets stuck or in case your phone gets stuck into boot loop, then close the Odin window, again go into downloading mode and implement the complete procedure as given above.
